Also known as Aluminum 3003 Round Bar, this manganese-strengthened alloy is the most widely used aluminium alloy in the 3xxx series — valued for its excellent corrosion resistance, superior weldability, and outstanding cold formability across chemical, food, HVAC, and general fabrication industries.
3003 is the most widely used aluminum alloy due to its excellent characteristics. The addition of manganese makes 3003 approximately 20% stronger than 1100 series aluminium. It belongs to the aluminium-manganese (Al-Mn) alloy series — non-heat-treatable but strengthened through cold working.
Like 1100, 3003 has excellent corrosion resistance and workability. It is commonly used in chemical equipment, cooking and kitchen equipment, decorative trim, and storage tanks. In round bar form, 3003 is the go-to choice for chemical processing equipment, food industry components, HVAC fittings, and general-purpose fabrication requiring a lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and easily workable material.
Lightly strain-hardened — provides a small increase in strength over the fully annealed condition while retaining good formability. Used for mild forming applications.
Half-hard temper — the most commonly stocked 3003 temper. Offers a well-balanced combination of strength (145 MPa tensile) and workability. Widely used in fabrication, chemical equipment, and architectural applications.
Full-hard temper — maximum strength achievable through cold working (200 MPa tensile). Used where higher mechanical resistance is required without heat treatment.
Fully softened — maximum ductility and formability. Preferred for deep drawing, spinning, and severe forming operations.
As-fabricated condition — suitable for structural applications where a specific temper is not critical.

3003 Aluminium Round Bars are widely used in chemical refineries, oil and gas industry pipelines, high-temperature process applications, water pipelines, nuclear power plants, boilers, heat exchangers, and food processing equipment. The alloy’s resistance to atmospheric and chemical corrosion makes it ideal for process plant components.
3003 is approved for food contact applications due to its non-toxic nature, excellent corrosion resistance, and ease of cleaning. Used in food processing equipment, cooking utensils, cold storage fittings, and dairy equipment components across the food and beverage sector.
The high thermal conductivity of 3003 (193 W/m·K) combined with excellent corrosion resistance makes it a preferred choice for HVAC system components, heat exchanger fittings, air conditioning components, and refrigeration system parts.
3003 Aluminium Round Bar is widely used in storage tanks, chemical equipment, and pressure vessel components due to its superior resistance to atmospheric corrosion, excellent weldability, and lightweight nature.
Used in roofing, siding, architectural trim, signage, lighting fixtures, decorative panels, and general sheet metal fabrication — wherever a lightweight, corrosion-resistant, easily worked aluminium bar is required.

All 3003 Aluminium Round Bars are supplied with: Mill Test Report (MTR) · Chemical Composition Certificate · Dimensional Inspection Report · Heat Number Traceability · Certificate of Origin for export.
3003 aluminium round bars are used across chemical refineries, oil and gas pipelines, high-pressure process applications, water pipelines, nuclear power plants, boilers, heat exchangers, and food processing. They are also used in automotive, marine, architectural, and general fabrication applications requiring a lightweight, corrosion-resistant bar with excellent workability.
3003 aluminium contains approximately 1.25% manganese, which increases its strength to around 20% above 1100 series aluminium in the same temper condition. For applications requiring significantly higher structural strength, 6061 T6 (310 MPa tensile) is recommended instead.
Yes. 3003 aluminium is widely used in food processing and beverage industry applications. The alloy is non-toxic, non-reactive with food products under normal conditions, easy to clean, and resistant to corrosion from mild food acids. It complies with FDA guidelines for food contact materials.
Yes. 3003 is one of the most weldable aluminium alloys. Both MIG and TIG welding are suitable. The recommended filler alloys are 4043 or 1100. The alloy retains excellent weldability without requiring pre- or post-weld heat treatment.
3003 aluminium round bars are covered under ASTM B221 and ASME SB221 for bars and extruded shapes. Additional specifications include AMS 4068 for aerospace applications and EN 755-2 for the European market. The UNS designation is A93003 and the DIN equivalent is 3.0517.
